The board abuses the closed session mechanism, and by extension, the constituents. It’s unclear if this is an attempt to give themselves time to review the docket delivered to them earlier or absolve themselves of the need to conduct the meeting in accordance with commonly acknowledged rules. Ultimately they deny those they are supposed to represent the ability to evaluate their fitness for the position elected to. Since the board chose to evaluate the town manager in closed session we only have the town managers version of the incident. Lacking any reason to question the town managers honesty I can only assume that his version is accurate. Never let it be said that this board can’t snatch failure from the jaws of victory.
