By Mark Scott, director, Market MontGOmery Chamber & Tourism • We all like to point out things that are wrong, but do we have solutions for all those problems?

The upcoming Legislative Lunch, set for noon Monday (April 8) in the Capel Hall multipurpose room on the campus of Montgomery Community College, is a perfect time to find out the solutions proposed by our state and federal politicians.

How about a $10 lunch (with no tipping) that includes a buffet of barbecue, baked beans, hush puppies, strawberry shortcake and drinks? Now factor in a program that includes updates from the politicians representing our area. Sounds pretty good, right? It’s open to everyone, and if you’re a current member of Market Montgomery Chamber & Tourism (or if you join by Friday by contacting mscott@marketmontgomery.com) two people from your business or organization get in for free.

Maybe our state should mandate that personal finance be taught in schools … but what class would we take out to make room for that? We could build toll roads to help with upkeep and funding to build new roads … but how much money would we lose in tourism dollars, since toll roads deter tourists? Such is the life of a politician trying to decide how to best use our resources while protecting our citizens and natural assets.

Invited guests include Mike Fenley, representative for U.S. Sen. Richard Burr; James Estes, representative for U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis; Bill Constangy, representative for U.S. Congressman Richard Hudson; N.C. Sen. Eddie Gallimore; and N.C. Rep. Ken Goodman.

Make reservations by noon Friday by calling Courtney Atkins at MCC, (910) 898-9602.
