Details are finalized for our college football fantasy league: Fall Paw Ball will officially begin with draft night at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 22 (Wednesday) at the Paw. You’re invited to participate. All you have to do is show up. Cost is $10. It’s easy to play – you pick teams, not players. More to come later. Meanwhile, here are the rules …
Fall Paw Ball college fantasy football rules
- Each participating member of the league will own and manage one team.
- Each team will consist of eight college football teams to be selected by draft.
- Initial draft order will be determined by dice roll – high roll first, next high second …
- Once drafted, a team cannot be drafted again.
- Each owner must draft one team from each Power Five conference, (ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac 12, SEC), two teams must be drafted from two different non P-5 conferences, and the remaining team is a wild card – it can be from any conference, including a previously used conference.
- In the event your wild card pick is from the same conference as another of your teams there exists the possibility you may have teams playing each other. Therefore, on draft day one of the teams will be designated with an asterisk as your home team. Win or lose this is the team whose score counts. Likewise, one of your conferences will be similarly designated in the event there are cross-conference matchups of your teams. NOTE: Consider your choices wisely in either event described above you will essentially only have seven teams playing that week.
- Likewise, consider your drafted team’s open dates as they will earn zero points for that week. Having multiple teams on bye the same week may not be in your best interest.
- Upon conclusion of the draft each player may attempt to and/or execute one and only one trade of their component teams with another owner. Such trades must be consumated immediately.
- For scoring purposes, playing weeks start on Sunday and end on Saturday.
- Your team’s score is determined by the point differentials of all your drafted teams in a given week. This is a positive number if your teams win, a negative number if they lose.
- Of your weekly eight scores the highest and lowest scores are discarded; the remaining are added up for your weekly score.
- Weekly winners are established for bragging rights and trash talk as the circumstances dictate.
- All weekly scores are added as the season progresses and the largest cumulative total at season’s end is crowned the Paw’s Top Dog. The Top Dog will be awarded a coveted prize to be determined.
- Each owner is tasked with naming their team, constructing a schedule of their team’s weekly opponents and calculating/distributing their scores. For your convenience a spreadsheet is available for use on Google Docs. It can be shared to your email address.
